Hi, I’m YUJI. I live in Sapporo, Hokkaido, in northern Japan, and I am 50 years old. I run this site on my own.
I share my home with Koguma, a young Maltipoo (born May 2025). A Maltipoo is a mix of a Maltese and a Toy Poodle.

Why this site is in English
Sapporo gets a lot of snow, and life here changes a lot with the seasons. I wanted to write simple notes about living with a small dog in this city for people who read English: dog owners from other countries who live in Hokkaido, people who plan to have a dog in Japan, and dog lovers abroad who are curious about ordinary life in Sapporo.
English is my second language. I write in plain, short sentences and check my writing carefully, but you may still find mistakes. If you notice an error, please let me know. I’d be glad to hear from you.

- No ads. This site has no advertising and no affiliate links. Nobody pays me to mention anything here.
- No medical advice. I am not a veterinarian. When a topic touches on health, food, skin, paws, or illness, my answer is always the same: please consult your veterinarian.
- Official sources for rules. Rules for dog owners in Japan (registration, vaccinations, manners, transport) are set by national and local governments and by each company. They can change. I describe them in general terms and link to official pages. Please check those official sources before you act.
- No exact locations. I do not name specific parks, shops, or places in my posts for now.
- Honest writing. I only write things about Koguma that are true. I don’t make up stories.
